Washi Tape Pencils

Crafts

Today I’m over at Skip To My Lou sharing a very cool washi notebook for Teacher Appreciation month, so I only found it fitting to share how I made a few simple washi tape pencils to go along with the super cute and hip notebook!

Supplies: washi tape, pencils, and scissors

Begin wrapping washi tape around the top of the pencil closest too the eraser. I wrapped the tape around the pencil at least 4 or 5 times.

After the first row of tape was wrapped around the pencil I used a coordinating color and wrapped a second row of washi tape.

I took a second pencil and repeated the same wrapping technique as shown above.

I went with a repetitive pattern that was long enough to cover the words on the pencils!

Remember to stop by Skip To My Lou today to take a look at my washi tape notebook!

What a cute idea. I’ve just recently been turned on to washi tape, but haven’t found any in the stores yet.

Thanks for visiting my little blog project and commenting on my new green table.

Target my friend—in the office supply area. It’s not marketed as washi tape it’s labeled as paper tape. It was $4 for 4 small rolls!

What adorable pencils! And the notebook is also lovely. I love all the pretty tape projects I’ve been seeing. I’m going to have to get some soon, I think!

Well, you already know I love washy tape! Hehe
This is a cute idea to upgrade a boring notebook or pencil. Love it!
I’m still waiting on my Target washi tape. I had my sweet mother in law buy some for me, but shipping from the US to Germany takes fooorever.. 😉
    xoxo!

Thanks Kristin. I found this at Target in the states; however, I have heard that you can find “paper tape” at Michaels craft stores. Although you might be stuck just ordering it online.

This is a great idea when you work with people who pick up your pen and then yours is always missing. I used to have to mark mine with elastics so I knew they were mine. I love the notebook too. I think I have to get some of this washi tape it looks awesome!

Love this idea, and have a suggestion for you that would use less washi tape ( always looking to save money) and make the colors pop. I first used a white adhesive mailing label to cover the pencil or portion of t,hen I only had to apply 1 layer of tape, so no overlap. Thanks for the idea that sparked my own creativity!
