Our friends at 3M contacted us the other month and asked us if we would like to try the Filtrete™ High Performance Drinking Water System. We both were intrigued by the product and wanted to give it a try since all we currently had was a pitcher that we would fill up each time it would run low and store it in our refrigerator. Taking up precious space and of course constantly needing to be filled with water. I loved the idea of knowing that I could get filtered water at any given time right from my sink!
Filters clean, great tasting water from a dedicated faucet with maximum PLUS level filtration.
- Maximum Filtration
- 6 Month Filter
- Filters up to 750 gallons/0.75 gpm flow rate
- Quick Change filter replacement
In case you are in the market for a water filter system–we wanted to show you just how easy this is to instal.

First, clean out everything from underneath your sink. Trust us, you will need all that room to work!

Then, remove all the contents from the box.

Once you have pulled all the contents out of the package–READ THE DIRECTIONS. This is a simple task to do, but so many people always fail to read the directions!

First you’ll want to mark where you want to drill your hole. Then, using a hammer, hit the punch where the dot you marked is. This will indent the metal and give the drill a place to sit. Next, using a by-metal bit begin drilling the hole into the sink. Make sure you use 3-in-1 oil so that the bit stays cool.
You will have to stop every so often to oil. This is what it looked like after the first time Mr. Woodsy stopped.
He placed a generous amount of oil around the metal circular ring on our sink.

Then it was time to start drilling again.

Once the hole is drilled in the sink you’ll want to get the faucet pieces together.

Now, get ready to do your magic under the sink (aka follow the directions).

Mr. Woodsy followed the directions; however, he ran into a few road blocks. 1. The heads on the screws were not large enough to hold the bracket on the wall. He was able to use some washers that we had in the garage to fix the issue. 2. The plastic adapter piece continually leaked. He had to take it off a few times and add teflon and pipe dope to stop the leak.
But once all was said and done–it’s working great! And we now have continuos filtered water right at our kitchen sink!

Filtrete™ High Performance Drinking Water System
Pros:
- Continuous filtered water attached to your sink
- Easy to replace filter (every 6 months)
- Sleek design
- Small and compact underneath the sink.
Cons:
- The heads on the screws were not large enough to hold the bracket on the wall.
- The plastic adapter piece continually leaked. However, after a few re-works we had it sealed up and working after no time!
