When I walked off the plane and into the Salt Lake City airport this is the view I saw… I was a little taken back. We don’t have mountains in Florida (obviously), and to be honest… I can’t recall the last time I saw mountains–maybe when I was 4? This was my official welcome to Utah… and to SNAP! 2013!
I missed getting a ticket to SNAP! when they first went on sale back in September. I was filming my first nationally syndicated cooking segment at the same time tickets went on sale. I got done with my segment, cleaned up, went on with life and later that afternoon heard the devastating news that SNAP! sold out in 2 hours! I went from a super high down to a low knowing that I probably wasn’t going to be able to attend. But as fate be… people were selling tickets and well I decided in February this year that I would attend. I’m so glad I attended. I learned so much at this conference. Seriously, once you’ve been blogging for a few years it is so hard to attend a conference and walk away learning so much. Sure… you start to reorganize priorities and think of new things. But I learned stuff. I also got to connect with some of my favorite women around the world. Most of my girlfriends don’t live near me so its always nice when I get a little girl time. It felt like one big pajama party. I met so many bloggers I’ve admired and adored over the years and then of course those bloggers who I met at Haven last year.
After spending the afternoon with my friends Jacque and Matt from The DIY Village we checked into our separate rooms and we all took naps! Waking up at 4am and traveling is tough stuff. My friends at Homes.com and ForRent.com took us brand ambassadors out to a nice dinner!

The next day it was time to register, pick up swag bags, and get to sessions! Here just a few of the fun things we got!
I ran into Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick–I had to take a picture and send it to my other friend Sarah from While They Snooze (they were partners for the East Coast Creative challenge). Then it was on to Google+ session with Carolina from 30 Minute Crafts. I happened to sit right next to Deneen from Dreaming in Color. In between sessions… I made my way to the sponsor booths where I got to see some new product and meet the faces behind the brands!
I stayed a little too long in the sponsors booths (oops) and made the last part of the Pinterest class by Jamielyn of I Heart Naptime and Heather from WhipperBerry. They were spewing out so much useful information–sad that I missed the beginning.
After the session… I spotted a few of my blog friends (online) that I finally got to meet in real life! (left to right) Laura from Pet Scribbles, Johnnie from Saved by Love Creations, and Suzy from Suzy’s Artsy Crafty Sitcom!
Later that evening Lowes through a delicious dinner that had spring written all over it!
After dinner we had an hour break and then it was back to the “barn” for a pajama craft party! My friends at Minwax had us staining and creating gorgeous wood frames! I also made decorative jars at the 3M Scotch Expressions booth.
The next morning, I went to the Monitization session with Becky from Infarrantly Creative. Once again… she blew my mind. I had the privilege of listening to Becky talk at Haven last year, and boy-oh-boy she has learned so much since last summer. I’m so thankful that she shared her wealth of knowledge with us!
Next up, Affiliates! Yep, those little links that leed you to stores… that is the session I went to. And I just so happened to sit in class with my friends Jamie from C.R.A.F.T and Allison from House of Hepworths! I love these girls!
So for those non-bloggers I don’t want to bore you–but for those who do blog. You must go checkout The Mom Creative she is the affiliate go-to resource!!
After my affiliates talk I decided to venture to the Tulip festival for lunch… I love tulips and this isn’t something you get to see in Florida. More on this later this week! 🙂
I stayed a little longer than anticipated at the Tulip festival and made it for the last part of Printables with Pow hosted by Paging Supermom!
After a very quick break it was time for dinner and the announcement of the door decorating contest winners! Throughout the night Cricut encouraged us to create paper flower headbands. Which were super cute and fun to make!
And since my roommates and I won $200 to share… I did a little shopping at The Queen Bee Market! Don’t worry though… next week, I’ve partnered up with some bloggers and I’m giving away $200 worth of product from The Queen Bee Market! After I was done shopping I had some time to meet my friend Kellie from Nest of Posies and Cindy from Skip to My Lou.
After an amazing night at the Queen Bee Market I realized I had to get back to the room and start packing… yah this was my portion of the room and it looked like a disaster zone!
How do most people spend their Saturday morning? Learning about advanced SEO from one of the greats…
In between sessions (and that morning during breakfast) I ran into so many of my blog friends both on and offline! You would think for people who document their lives on camera that they would take more photos at conferences… definitely not the case!
After SEO… it was time to go see my friend Ana White talk about power tools. She partnered with Ryobi and showed us each of the power tools, what they do, and what you would want to make with the tool.
After Ana’s talk it was time to get my DIY on. I was selected to participate in the Lowe’s Designer Challenge. We were assigned teams… my team was Team 10!
- Sarah from Becoming Martha
- Hedi from HoneyBear Lane
- Kelly from Live. Laugh. Rowe
- Michelle from A Little Tipsy
Somehow during our hour challenge I managed to take a few photos (plus I had a few friends send me photos), so I’ll be posting more about the Lowes Designer Challenge tomorrow!
After the challenge I went to a few more sessions then headed back to my room… this is what was going on… Full on photo shoot in our room! A little behind the scenes of some beautiful photos taking place! Towards the end I was making everyone laugh since I felt like Melissa from No. 2 Pencils was doing quite the “spidy” moves!
Everyone got dolled up and then it was time for our last dinner which was sponsored by Minwax. I sat with Sandra from Sawdust Girl and Jacque and Matt from The DIY Village for diner and then after dinner spent some time chatting away with Ana.
After our keynote… it was time to P-A-R-T-Y! My friends over at Homes.com and ForRent.com through a killer closing party! It was dark… and I’m anti-flash so I didn’t take any pictures. However, they had a photo booth set-up and a group of us took some pretty funny photos!
SNAP! was exactly what I needed. I’ve been a DIY blogging rut lately. It’s all thanks to my continued effort of trying to grow my food blog; Katie’s Cucina. I’ve made a new rule for myself… No more doing 5 food blog post and 1 DIY post… in an effort to stay motivated and get more content on Sew Woodsy I now have to do every other post a food post! Even Jon was shocked to hear this revelation. I also have a bunch of behind the scenes blog work to do, and get ready… some more changes are coming to Sew Woodsy–all good of course!
So… if you’re a blogger–have you ever been to a blog conference?
