Brighten Up An Old Outdoor Lantern

Brighten Up An Old Outdoor Lantern from SewWoodsy.com

Back in June when we were working on revamping our patio I decided to take a little spray paint to an old lantern to brighten it up!  This was considered a free project since I had everything on hand. The only thing I had to do was use a little time and elbow grease!

First things first, you’ll need about an hour-ish (give or take) to complete this project. I purchased this lantern a year ago at HomeGoods in the clearance section. I always knew I wanted to do something with it but just wasn’t sure what. When our neighbors dog comes over we hide our shoes in the lantern so he doesn’t steal them and chew at them…

First thing I did was take a damp towel and clean off the lantern.

Next up, I removed the plastic from the insides.

I placed a drop cloth in the backyard, the lantern on it, and got my favorite Rust-Oleum spray paint and comfort grip handle out.

I did two coats of spray paint, letting the lantern rest a half hour in between.

Once it was dry I put it back on my patio!

I love the pop of color the lantern gives off to our super colorful back patio.

Brighten Up An Old Outdoor Lantern before and after from SewWoodsy.comThe before and after are drastic… love my new bright and cheery lantern. Have you ever revamped something to make it new again? We’d love to read about it in the comments below.
