Over the past few days I’ve thought long and hard about my word of the year. I wanted it to make a big impact on not only me but to all those I love. After much consideration I felt that the word “present” would be best for 2014. No, I’m not talking about shower me with lots of presents… I’m talking about being present. In the moment–the here and now.
I want to have a better balance between blogging and life. Last year, I spent every minute I had on blogging (minus for when I was at my day job). I do not and cannot live like that again this year. It wasn’t until we found out I was pregnant and was forced to slow down that I started to enjoy life a little (minus the all day and night morning sickness). I spent much needed time to myself, and with family and friends. Being that we have a little bambino coming in a mere 12 weeks I feel that the word present is best for 2014.
I also want the blog to be more “present“… I put off sharing our kitchen over the past few months so that I could have everything lined up and share the finished project all at once. I’m tired of waiting months on end for us to finish something and then post about it. So in 2014 I’m vowing to blog as we do. No more waiting months for the big unveiling… we will unveil when we get to it!
I missed out on sharing so many great trips and experiences in 2013 because I was not living in the present moment. So get ready… you might be seeing a lot more writing and not as many DIY projects, but its all because I want to live in the present and share everything that is going on in our lives. And that might just mean that you get two blog post in one day… gasp! I know… or it might mean you just get one blog post in one week because I’ve spent the week enjoying down time with family and friends. Living in the present.
So, what is your word for 2014? How do you want to remember 2014 and live 2014? That is what you have to ask yourself.
