Lucky Shirt using Iron-On Vinyl

Learn how to make this Lucky Shirt using Iron-On Vinyl

I had all intentions of getting this post out last week so other’s might be able to make the same shirt in time for St. Patrick’s day. But instead I dealt with business taxes (yuck), and survived it all, so now I’m back to bring you some fun creative projects. First up, this lucky shirt. While cleaning out my craft room last month I found a mint green shirt that I’m guessing I was planning to do something with. Like 2-3 years ago. oops. But now, it’s been transformed into this sparkly lucky shirt.

Supplies:

First up, I designed this in Cricut Design Space. I used Cricut Handwriting font and welded the letters together. Then I added the four leaf clover and welded that to the text. Lastly I selected all then clicked “attached” that way it would all cut at once.

I set my Cricut Explore to “iron-on” vinyl and let it do its thing.

Next, you need to weed out the negative. Lucky shirt 2

Then place the iron-on vinyl on the shirt.Lucky shirt 3

Next up, it’s time to heat set the iron-on vinyl. I find that the glitter iron-on vinyl is thicker so you need to iron it on longer. I ALWAYS use a cloth under my iron. Then I press the iron for a good 30 seconds. I peal back the plastic and if the letters stick I’m good. But if not then I hit it with the iron for another 20 seconds or until the letters stick.

Once the letters stick you’ll be ready to peal the plastic off. Then I like to put the thin cloth over the iron-on vinyl and give it one last press. I feel like this really makes it stick! Lucky shirt 6That’s it. This is how it turned out!

And there is a sneak peak of a project we just finished up the other week… hint hint: it’s orange!
