DIY Chalkboard Painted Dresser

Before-After DIY Chalkboard Painted Dresser

Last year, I was contacted by DecoArt Paint during the same week Martha Stewart Living contacted us to work on the Deck the Halls project. When it rains it pours, right? That is the saying. We had been asked to contribute a project to the 2013 catalog. The first thing that came to mind was the dresser that had been sitting in our garage for over two years. You see... Mr. Woodsy dad found it on the side of the road for us, put it in his truck, and hauled it to our house. We weren't sure if we … [Read more...]

Stripes be gone…

Stripes be gone... #painting #DIY #BEHRpaint

Last summer I got this hair brain idea... let's paint the living room... and let's do a little mini-makeover. It won't take long at all. I promise. As I attempted to convince Mr. Woodsy into this idea. So I some how convinced him and I was off to the store to pick up paint samples. We blogged about our living room decorating dilemmas last summer. So after painting a few samples I was not happy. That's when my neighbor convinced me to go with a dark green. Without ANY consultation from Mr. … [Read more...]

{Product Review} Filtrete™ High Performance Drinking Water System

{Product Review} Filtrete™ High Performance Drinking Water System

Our friends at 3M contacted us the other month and asked us if we would like to try the Filtrete™ High Performance Drinking Water System. We both were intrigued by the product and wanted to give it a try since all we currently had was a pitcher that we would fill up each time it would run low and store it in our refrigerator. Taking up precious space and of course constantly needing to be filled with water. I loved the idea of knowing that I could get filtered water at any given time … [Read more...]

Craft Room Tour

DSC_0300

This is a much anticipated post. Especially, since we finished the craft room almost two years ago. I never gave it the proper introduction to our loyal Sew Woodsy readers. Back in September, Mr. Woodsy picked up a side job and was gone the entire weekend. I vowed to him (and myself) that I would get the craft room clean. My main motivation was to take pictures so I can finally give a Craft Room Tour! First off, the craft room is not large. I went from a spacious loft to a 9 x 9 room. We … [Read more...]

I'm excited to finally give a complete tour of our recently completed Master Bedroom Revamp Project! It has been a long time coming. I'm so glad it is finally complete--partly because I'm ready to start on another project! I recorded a video yesterday giving our readers the grand tour--and if you watch until the end I promise you'll learn about an exciting giveaway coming in the next few days! First up, our Upholstered Tufted Bench. It all started with my philisophical question I asked … [Read more...]

{Decorating Dilemmas} Our Living Room

fabric inspirations for decorating our living room

I had no intentions to redecorate our living room anytime soon. That was until Mr. Woodsy scored all that furniture last month during his morning walk with our dog. I fell in love with the entertainment stand and knew that I wanted to redo it. Paint it bold, remove the tacky particle board on the back, give it some sexy new legs... you know. RE-DO IT! Plus I loved these pictures... I wanted to use them in our house, and the only place I could think about incorporating them was in our … [Read more...]

{Part 3} Painting, Staining, and Waxing the Dressers + Reveal

diy-chalk-paint

The day has finally arrived. Not only are our dressers finished and moved into our room, but we can show our readers the finished product! I feel like this dresser painting project has taken forever. I think it partly took forever becuase we just didn't know what direction we wanted to go with it. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have went into these two dressers. Well, maybe not the blood part, but tons of sweat (in our hot Florida non-airconditioned garage) and maybe a few tears of frustration … [Read more...]

{Part 2} More Dresser Prep

The other day I showed how we sanded and prepped our dressers. Now, let's fast forward 2 months-- the dressers were still sitting in the garage--sanded. Acting as a nice resting place for all the crap in our garage. At this point--I just want to be able to put our clothes in dressers. See we had clothes in our nightstands and ever since we switched out our nightstands we have had to resort to storing our clothes either stuffed in our closet or piled sky high on our only 6 drawer … [Read more...]

Antique Nightstand Revamp

before & after antique nightstand

I'm so excited to finally reveal our nightstands. Seriously. We have been looking for nightstands for over a year now. I would scour Craigslist on an almost daily basis--we would stop at garage sales, antique stores, and everything in between. Mr. Woodsy wanted two what I like to call "matchy-matchy" nightstands where as I just wanted 2 night stands in general. On Easter weekend we met a friend of a friend whose mother is an antique broker. She gave us her mom's number and I was planning to call … [Read more...]

Tall Baseboards & Crown Molding {Tips & Tricks}

tall baseboards & crown molding

Last year, when we decided we wanted to revamp our master bedroom the first thing we knew we wanted to do was add crown molding. Mr. Woodsy learned how to install crown  moulding from his dad and has helped install a majority of the crown molding at his parents house. He also installed crown molding in our three smallest rooms (the craft room, guest bathroom, and laundry room) in our house over a year ago. Like most skills you learn if you don't use it you lose it. It takes a while to get back … [Read more...]
