{Mini Tutorial} Love Bird Birdhouse

Valentine's Day is technically a month away, and if your like me as soon as the Christmas decor came down the Valentine's decor came out. Now, granted I don't have bins and bins full of Valentine's decor. I just have enough to fill the shelves above our tv. I made a few crafts last year;  Frosted Valentine's Day Vases, Valentine's Stuffed Owl, Heart Shadow Box, Rosette Frame, Heart Garland, and lastly Mr. Woodsy made this amazing "Love" cut out using his scroll saw. These are the extent of my … [Read more...]

Harvest Tea Light Blocks

Last year, I saw this brilliant idea on Just Between Friends to make your own tea light candle holders from a 4 x 4 post of wood. We made the 4 x 4 wood tea light holders last year before Thanksgiving but never had a chance to decoupage the words onto the blocks. This year, I took the same plain blocks we used as rustic wood tea light holders last year, and decoupaged words on to the blocks. This is a super simple project and it didn't cost us anything to make since we had all the supplies on … [Read more...]

{Tutorial} Mod Podge Glitter Flats

Using Mod Podge and glitter to spruce up an old pair of shoes has been all the rage in blog world in recent months. I first got the idea from Suburbs Mama. She transformed plain every day high heals into shimmering super stars!  Months ago I planned to do this project, and yet time kept slipping from me. This past weekend I finally took the time out of my busy life to rehab my beloved black patent leather flats. They had seen better days, and to be honest are one of my most comfortable pair of … [Read more...]

Guest Blogging today at Meremade

I'm guest blogging over at Meremade today! When Jennifer asked me to participate I couldn't resist in not participating in "Back-to-School" month on Meremade. I instantly knew what I wanted to make and thus I've created a customized notebook with supplies I already had in my craft room. What's wonderful about this notebook is that you can customize it to your own supplies, color pallet, and taste! I made this notebook for my friend Chisty's daughter, Chloe! She loves making  paper crafting, and … [Read more...]

(Tutorial) Customized Magnetic Frame

Last week my Aunt  Millie turned 88. After her birthday last year she requested that no one buy her gifts, anymore. She has more than she will ever need and doesn't need any more materialistic things in her life. So, we bring her flowers or gift cards... because gift cards to restaurants are not materialistic *at least in my book. Mr. Woodsy, myself, and my parents drove up to Palm Coast (about a 2-1/2 hour drive) last Friday to celebrate Aunt Millie's birthday. I didn't want to just bring her … [Read more...]

January Craft with Me: Rosette Frame {Mini Tutorial}

I got quite a few craft projects completed this weekend, and one of them is one I've been wanting to work on ALL month! Ucreate hosted a few "create with me" sessions in 2010, and they are planning to host one each month in 2011!  For those of you who aren't familiar with Ucreate you should go check them out--right now! This month's "create" session was to create a rosette frame. I bought a very inexpensive frame a few months back at Goodwill. Actually, to be more precise I bought two … [Read more...]

Dimensional Magic Bracelet {Mini Tutorial}

Last summer I finally got my hands on Mod Podge's Dimensional Magic. I had read about it for months on end and I finally found it one day while at JoAnn Fabrics. I started using it to add an additional dimension to my cards. Then one day I saw you could use it to fill jewelry! My good friend, Anngela, beat me to it! As soon as our Hobby Lobby opened she found an awesome variety of jewelry to fill with Dimensional Magic. She did a tutorial on it here. She did a fabulous job on her tutorial that I … [Read more...]

Christmas Magnets {Mini Tutorial} + Giveaway

Remember, a few months back when I posted about the skeleton magnets I made? They were such a huge hit and yet so simple to make! I decided I would make some Christmas magnets. I decided to try and make them a little different this time since I received some very valuable feedback from a 10 year old who made them. Because of her fabulous feedback I felt the need to revamp my tutorial instructions!  Supplies needed: -glass stones (large bag for $1 at the dollar store) -magnets (18 round … [Read more...]

{Tutorial} Inexpensive Wall Art

 Last month we completed a mini-bathroom revamp on our guest bathroom. I was so pleased with the outcome, but I needed some wall art. I waited a few weeks and looked at a variety of art pieces. It wasn't until one afternoon when I was perusing through the clearance bins at Michael's when I stumbled across 4 ugly small canvases. I instantly grabbed them and knew I could do something with them--I just didn't know what. It wasn't until later that night when I got pulled them out of the bag that I … [Read more...]
