Customized Notebook

Last year I had the opportunity to guest blog over at Meremade. I shared this easy and fun back-to-school craft to get children excited about going back to school! The best part about these notebooks is that you can truly customize them to any person. I made this one (last year) for my friend Christy's daughter. Chloe was starting Kindergarten and I wanted her to get excited about school. Supplies: Composition Notebook Mod Podge Foam Brush Scrapbook … [Read more...]

Burlap Wrapped Mason Jars

I co-hosted my best friend's bridal shower this past Saturday. I've been assisting with the planning for a little over a month now, and I'm happy to report that her bridal shower was a hit! She is going with a "rustic" wedding theme, so we wanted to follow along with her theme and tie that into her shower theme. When her sister and I began planning I knew I wanted to incorporate mason jars some where in the mix. It was until I was browsing on Pinterest that I knew I wanted to use mason jars as … [Read more...]

Chevron Heart Frame

Chevron pattern has been all the rage in the craft blog world over the past year, and I love the pattern dearly--yet I've created not one thing using this beloved pattern. Last week while parousing the aisles of Michaels I stumbled across this wooden heart shape frame for $1. I knew instantly that I could paint a chevron pattern on the frame and make it spectacular! The only problem I had was creating a perfectly straight chevron pattern. You probably noticed my "goof" instantly... the solid red … [Read more...]

Birthday Package Countdown

I know everyone is eagerly anticipating this post... well maybe not, but I'm sure glad I could finally divulge my secret project for Mr. Woodsy! February just so happens to be his birthday month and although his birthday is towards the end of the month I wanted to do a month long countdown. He's not hitting a milestone year or anything... I just figured it would be fun. And... I'll admit--I feel a tad guilty. You see, I failed to fill his advent calendar for Christmas last year. Some of you may … [Read more...]

Flower Embellished Shirt

Months ago I cleaned out my closet... a fall cleaning of sorts. I donated most of the clothes, and left a few shirts to the side in hopes to upcylce them into something amazing. I kept a bright red sheer button down top I bought at Express a few years ago. It no longer fits nor is it really my style any more. I figured I could cut it up and make it into something great... although the thought of cutting up an uber expensive Express shirt instantly ran chills down my spine. I finally gained … [Read more...]

It all starts with paint…

We finally picked out paint colors for our Master Bedroom Revamp project. This is a long awaited project for us. It started in April when Mr. Woodsy asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said... I wanted a master retreat. I don't want just a boring bedroom. I want a place to escape to on a daily/nightly basis. I want a retreat. We always try to tackle project on a limited budget, and this is yet again another one of those low budget projects. I figured a little paint on the walls, add in … [Read more...]

Merry {belated} Christmas

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas (for those who celebrate). I meant to get this post out on Christmas day which then led to the day after Christmas and now it's 2 days later! If you follow us on Facebook you probably already know what we got for Christmas! Mr. Woodsy finally got the Kreg system with anything and everything needed for this unique … [Read more...]

Christmas Pillow Packages

Last week on the Bowdabra blog I shared a simple way to spruce up your front porch for the holidays. Add ribbon and bows to your outdoor pillows and transform them into "pillow packages". I'm going to show you how I transformed the long green rectangular pillow into a package. Supplies: Red sparkly Toile (I cut multiple 12 inch long pieces prior to starting the project). Bowdabra Scissors 1.  Cut a 24” piece of toile and fold it in half. Lay it into the Bowdabra. You’ll have a … [Read more...]

Tacky Christmas Sweaters

Earlier this month Mr. Woodsy & I were invited to a Tacky Christmas Sweater party. We were so excited to create the tackiest of tacky sweaters that could possibly be made. We took a trip to our local Goodwill in hunt of two sweaters and in hopes to find some inexpensive Christmas decorations to possibly use on the sweaters. Mr. Woodsy found a Bill Cosby-esque 1980's style sweater and I found a simple red and blue sweater (both Men's larges). We find felt gingerbread men , a horn adorned … [Read more...]
