I’m so excited to share a new video with our readers today! We had to cover buttons with fabric for our Upholster a Bench Cushion and Tufting project and thought that our readers (and the world) would love to see how its done. This is a very simple process to do and makes a world of a difference when upholstering a piece of furniture. Watch the video to learn how to cover your own buttons for your next upholstery project!
Supplies for this project:
7/8 inch 2 Half Ball Cover Buttons
Fabric of choice
Scissors & Invisible Ink Pen

Hi! We are a husband and wife DIY team who documents our journey of homeownership one tutorial at a time. We hope you'll follow us on our journey!

Thanks for sharing the video tutorial.

Thanks! I love the video. Now I’m going to scour your site for the finished project.
Thanks for the kind compliments! I posted about our tufted bench and just posted part 1 to our 2 part series for our headboard today!
I bought button covering kits at JoAnn’s, but my upholstery fabric is too thick to work on the buttons. Any suggestions for another method?
Hi Katheleen, Maybe try using a rubber mallet and lightly hit the button closure with it?!?! That’s the only idea I have for you. Good luck!
