I’m sure you’ve noticed that we’ve had a lot of guest bloggers around here lately. After 22 hours of labor (ultimately ending in c-section), our son, Ryder Thomas, finally arrived (3 days late) on Saturday, March 29 at 6:55 p.m. I will share my full birth story in the coming weeks, but for now I just wanted to share an abbreviated story and a few pictures!
Us right after Ryder was born. Don’t you just love the temperature sticker on my forehead? I had no idea that was there until Jon showed me the photos!
One of the nurses escorted Jon out to the designated waiting area where our parents were eagerly awaiting to meet their new grandson. I love that they wrote his name and all the stats on Jon’s surgical outfit and included his foot prints! Jon said he has no recollection of what was said during those minutes they all met him for the first time. All he knows, is that a lot of tears were shed by everyone. When I asked my mom she said they all stood there crying tears of joy, and then she finally looked up at Jon and asked “What is his name”. We kept Ryder’s name a secret the entire pregnancy.
This photo was taken the next day in our hospital room. My father in-law snapped this photo and didn’t realize he has it in the black and white setting. We absolutely LOVE this photo and decided to use it as our official Facebook announcement photo on our personal pages!
I believe, this photo was also taken on Sunday, March 30 as well. I made the snap tee (and will have a tutorial in the coming weeks) the week before he was born. I packed it in the hospital bag and knew that if he was tiny he would wear it in the hospital. I believe I took this right after a diaper change. Because we always have him swaddled up in a blanket.
I snapped this one-handed photo after waking up from an afternoon nap on that Monday in the hospital. Ryder started fussing and Jon was passed out asleep. Since I had a c-section I wasn’t really able to move around much. But when your baby is fussing you figure out how to safely get out of bed, grab him, and get back in bed to soothe and comfort him. I started snapping photos and ended up with this photo. Still, one of my favorite photos to date!
My super talented friend, Christy, came to visit us in the hospital and did what is called a “fresh 48” photo shoot. This is a great way to document the first 48 hours in the hospital as a new family. The first photo up top was taken by Christy as well as this one she posted on Instagram. I can’t wait to see the rest of the photos!
I took this photo of Jon and Ryder on our last day in the hospital, Tuesday, April 1st. They were having a father and son staring competition.
And for good measure, a few days later, Ryder finally got to wear his RYOBI Nation onesie. I’ve been waiting months for the day when I could put him in it.
So, there you have it. Our sweet baby boy has finally blessed our lives! We could not be happier and are so appreciative of the kind words and well wishes on our social media pages! We have friends guest blogging for us over the next month and will occasionally pop in with some tutorial and stories. Including sharing photos from our fresh 48 and our newborn photo shoots.
