You make this look easy! Pinning it for future.
Kelly–it’s so easy! You can do it and best of all you can have your kids watch and they will be amazed they made their own snow globe!
Hi, I’m really into making souvenir’s for a camp where I can sell them – the money will go for sick children. However I wanted to ask – where do I get a snow globe like that??? Because I can’t find them in the stores like Pepco or whatever. I would be grateful for a quick anser. Thank You for the marvelous idea!!
XOXO
I found them at Michael’s during the Christmas holiday. But you might be able to find them now, too! Good luck!
I just ordered a case of plastic snow globes from dollar tree! very nice and big. If you have it sent to the store free shipping.
Great to know Sheila!
You can order them on line from Dollar Tree for $1.00 each, they are plastic and worked well for us. They were shipped free to our local Dollar Tree store. Had them within a week too!
I can see this being a fun yearly activity!
Agree–think of all the holidays you can make them for!
How adorable, would love to do that as a project over winter break! THanks for the inspiration!

Thanks Lynda! I love making snow globes!
I really need to make one of these in a plastic container so my 8-month old can shake it to his heart’s content. Love this tutorial!
Go stock up on them now at Michaels. I find they are a little more difficult to come by after the holidays!
You can get them at the dollar tree and if they dont have them you can order a case of them to be delivered to your local dollar tree for no shipping.
Adorable! Pinning!!
Thanks Dinah!
What a great idea! Loved the video!
Thanks Angie!
Super cute! I may have to make one of these! Thanks for the inspiration.
I want to start making these for my niece and as gifts for family members but i cannot seem to find the basic snow globes anywhere. any suggestions? i have been practicing making them with stemware but those are mostly the dry ones with soap shavings and glitter.
Hi Damien, I have only found them during the holidays at the craft stores. I can’t even find them online. The good thing is that most craft stores will start to put out Christmas displays in July!
Did you use fine glitter or the more chunkier glitter? I’m having trouble getting my glitter to float back down to the bottom.
Hi Emily! I used a fine glitter. Maybe add a little more glycerine to your globe?
I bought a plastic mason jar from the craft store. Do you think that will work?
Hi Mallory–I think it would. Just make sure it is sealed nice and tight!
Any ideas how to fix old snow globes that have lost their water? I have been collecting snow globes for over 35 yrs. A lot of them have lost water over time or became moldy inside. I would love to repair them so I can enjoy having them out each Christmas.
Hi Sherry–If they are true snow globes bought from a store I have no idea how to add water. I’m afraid to say it–it might be time to retire them and find new ones. As for the DIY version–you just open the tab on the bottom and add in more water!
Hi. The plastic ones have little plugs in the bottom. Holding the globe upside down, use a thin knife blade to take out the plug. Then put water in the opening. Then replace plug.
Do we need to put glycerin in the jars or just water?
Hi Geri–both glycerin and water per the tutorial!
