The Christmas bug has hit me hard this year. We put up our tree a few weeks ago (living in Florida it’s not practical to have a real tree). I’ve been dreaming up tons of Christmas crafts… all that have to do with the wee-little one. I’ve always wanted a personalized Santa cookie plate, so I decided to make one for Ryder. And because I love how this plate turned out I’m pretty sure I’ll be making a few more for friends and family! This is one of my three projects this month for the Cricut Design Space Star contest. It’s the last month and the theme this month is gear (think tote bags, vinyls for iPads, etc) and gifts. I think that this DIY Personalized Santa Cookie Plate will make the perfect gift for family and friends this holiday season!
I selected the Santa Silhouette image in Cricut Design Space.
Then I clicked on the eye symbol to remove the black frame.
Next, up I added the text (I used the free font Schoolbell to achieve the child-like handwritten note to Santa). I also changed my plate to a light green to replicate how it would look like in real life.
Weeded out all the negative parts.
I placed all the text on the plate to figure out exactly how I wanted it.
Then I applied vinyl transfer tape to the vinyl.
Adhered the vinyl to the plate.
Carefully (and slowly) I removed the transfer tape from the plate.
And easy as that I have a DIY Personalized Santa Cookie Plate! I can’t wait to make more for friends and family. Everyone should have a cookies for Santa plate. Remember, this is vinyl. It’s not permanent. Therefore it’s not dishwasher safe. I would also be very carefully washing it. This is more for decoration than it is for practically. I fully realize that–but it’s just too darn cute. So sometimes we suck it up when it’s not as “practical” as most would want.
Now, I guess I’ll wait a few years until Ryder can really use this santa cookie plate! But I’ll probably still have it out as decor for the meantime because it’s too darn cute!
