Last year, was my son’s first year of preschool. In mid-October I received “homework” from his teacher. We received a template to decorate our turkey in disguise. Have you received this same “homework”? Are you stumped on what to do, but want to make your turkey stand-out and look awesome? Let’s face it–if you competitive/perfectionist you will need help narrowing down your ideas and of course supplies you want to use.
Since my son was (and really still is) construction obsessed (plus we own a construction company) we knew it was only fitting to make our turkey in disguise a construction worker. Our teacher encouraged this to be a family project and to use a wide-variety of mediums. So I cut a few items out on my Cricut and we grabbed a cotton ball, hot glue, spray adhesive and shovel with dirt and got to work!
My son loved sprinkling the dirt on his turkey. He was also so proud of this turkey when he would pass by it on the bulletin board hanging outside his classroom door. He would always point out his turkey to his friends.

Of course, we just got this same homework handed to us the other day. Now it’s back to the drawing board for us. My son really wants to make a Minion, but my husband and I have other ideas. I have a feeling though, the Minion is going to win. Now, that my son, Ryder, is a year old he has way more opinions which means he is also going to want to do a lot more with his turkey this year!

Last but not least… our Turkey In Disguise Construction Worker! I didn’t buy anything to make this turkey–we just used what we had on hand. I used my Cricut Maker (affiliate link) to cut out the cone, stop sign, shovel, safety vest, boots, apron, hat, and hair. My husband loves to do adult coloring so he colored everything and then we had Ryder spread the dirt on the ground of the turkey. He also applied the cotton balls to the sky as the clouds.
